FIDDLER'S GREEN

i was out walking on the dark side so fair
to breathe the salt water and drink the salt air
i saw an old fisherman singing a song
said, take me away boys, my time is not long
wrap me up in the oilskin and jumper
no more on the dark side i'll sail
just tell my old shipmates i'm taking a trip mate
ill see them someday on fiddler's green
now fiddler's green is a place i've heard tell,
where the fishermen go when they don't go to hell
the sky's always clear and the dolphins do play and the
cold coast of greenland is far far away
wrap me up in my oilskin and jumper,
no more on the dark side i'll sail
just tell my old shipmates i'm taking a trip mates
and ill see them someday on fiddler's green
the sky's always clear and there's narry a gale
and the fish jump on board with one swish of their tail
all there is is leisure -- there's no work to do
and the skipper's below making tea for the crew.
wrap me up in my oilskin and jumper
no more on the dock side i'll sing
just tell my old ship mates i'm taking a trip mates
and i'll see them someday on fiddler's green.
